Stress and relaxation are our focus this week so we thought we would start off by suggesting four some simple ways to reduce stress.

A good belly laugh doesn’t just lighten the load mentally. It lowers cortisol, your body’s stress hormone and boosts brain chemicals called endorphins, which help your mood. So it you aren’t already reaching for the remote to turn on Friends – we encourage you too!

This is the probably the easiest- cause you’re doing it even as you read this. We suggest you take 5 mins to sit and just focus on your breathing – noticing it. No thoughts or judgements around it just breathe. Inhale and Exhale – then see how you feel.

Scan your body
When you take a moment to scan your body you’ll become aware of what areas of your body feel tense or tight. Focusing on those areas can begin to relieve the tension. Some areas can be harder than others so try to breathe into those areas sending positivity to each area as you focus on it.

Reach out.
Pick up the phone or go over to a friend’s house- talk to others, preferably face to face or at least on the phone. Share whats going on. You can get a fresh perspective while keeping your connection strong.
