Okay, so we admit that you might not suffer from a coffee addiction as severe as ours, making the title of this blog post potentially misleading. That being said, after reading about all of the wonderful health benefits of drinking coffee, you might find yourself reaching for a mug.

1)    Fight the pain.
Studies have shown that 2 cups of coffee after you work out can cut post workout muscle soreness by 48%. Now we don’t feel so guilty about our post-gym Starbucks trips.

2)    Feelin’ that Fiber.
Your mind might not go straight to coffee when you’re thinking about how to get your daily fiber intake, but the average cup off brewed coffee has up to 1.5 grams of fiber.

3)    Protect against disease.
There is considerable evidence out there that says coffee can help protect you from Alzheimer’s, Diabetes, Parkinson’s, and cirrhosis of the liver.

4)    Prevent cavities.
A strong cup of black coffee can actually kill tooth decaying bacteria in your mouth, lowering your risk for cavities. Of course, if you take your coffee with cream and sugar, the positive, tooth protecting benefits are lost.

5)    It opens your eyes!
Well, technically, it prevents retinal damage due to oxidative stress, thanks to the antioxidants in the coffee bean.

Before you fire up the coffeemaker, we do feel like it is important to mention that all the wonderful health benefits of coffee are immediately negated when you add creamer or sugar. If you don’t drink your coffee black, we think moderation is probably your best bet.
