Today’s #MotivationalMay tip is to know your peak hours. If you’re a morning person, try to do work during those hours, because that’s when you are at your best. Conisder yourself a 'Night owl'? You’re probably more productive at night, and hopefully you're taking advantage of that. Unfortunately for us night owls, the majority of the world tends to operate on a 9-5 schedule, and when you factor in commute times and morning routines, we almost have to be morning people. If you struggle with mornings, the following tips could help make you more of a morning person.

Let in a little light.
Natural light works best, but if it’s still dark out when you wake up (you poor unfortunate soul) flipping on the light switch as soon as your alarm goes off should suffice. Light helps your brain to wake up, and more importantly makes it super uncomfortable to lay in bed and keep hitting snooze.

Have a morning drink!
You won’t hear us saying no to a cup of coffee, but you can also start your day with a large glass of water to help you wake up in the morning. Most of the time that 'groggy' morning feeling comes from being dehydrated. Our bodies work really hard while we are sleeping, so having a glass of water with that morning tea or coffee, will help you feel more awake.  Add in some ginger, lemon, and honey, and you’ll also boost your immune system, lower your risk for diabetes, and promote a healthy weight.

Put on some happy tunes.
There is a lot of research on how music can help mood,  memory, emotions - just type it into google for confirmation. So blasting an uplifting song; one with a jumping beat or with motivational lyrics, or both! Will have you wide awake and ready to take on the world in no time.

Write your to do list.
What will your day consist of? Are there any must do tasks that just have to be completed by the end of the day? Day feeling too much, making you to go back to bed and call in sick? Add something into your day that will make you feel good. Maybe treat yourself to lunch in the park, or plan to take a long hot bath when you get home. Making your to do list exciting as well as productive will help you prep for the day, get motivated and wake your brain up!

Getting the blood flowing is always a great way to wake up in the morning, all while boosting your mood and energy levels for the rest of the day. Why not try cycling to work? Yoga is always a great option too. You don’t even have to leave the house, as there are plenty of free online videos. Or, you could always try our wake up workout.
