6 THINGS YOU CAN DO TO GET YOUR BALANCE BACK

Being almost two weeks into the New Year and the holiday season seems a distant memory, and your work schedule could be already getting too much. If you’re feeling like one or more areas of your life are carrying more weight than others, there are some things you can do to get the balance back.  

1.     Eat A Nutritious Meal

When life gets busy, it’s very easy to just reach to the most convenient thing to eat – which sadly isn’t always the healthiest. What you eat directly affects your mood as well as your energy levels. So, if you’ve been eating some ‘not so nutritious meals’ lately, change that. Have a balanced meal tonight and things will begin to feel a little more leveled out.

2.     Keep Hydrated

Staying hydrated is as important as eating well, being dehydrated can cause you to feel tired, moody and can also have a lot of impact to your internal organs. It can also make you feel more stressed at times of stress. (Just to make things even worse)! So, keep a bottle of water with you always when you’re out so you can sip on it, and a glass of water when you’re indoors. Life will appear far more manageable.

3.     Move Your Body

Even if you only have time for a 10 minute dance party around the kitchen, make sure you move today! You don’t have to run 5k, or exhaust yourself at a spin class, just a light walk around your neighbourhood, hit some balls on the court or do some at home yoga are great options. Moving your body essentially shifts your perspective and attention from what it that is occupying your mind. It’ll give you more clarity and help you focus better afterwards

4.     Get Organized

When it comes to work and your personal life, to achieve the most you need to be organized. Make sure you have a to –do list and a calendar you look at daily. Most unnecessary stress comes from being disorganized, therefore finding yourself running late or missing appointments or forgetting them all together. Check in with your system and make some changes where necessary!

5.     Have Some Fun

All too many of us put fun aside to handle work or life responsibilities, but it’s essential to make sure you are finding some time to have a little fun! Take an hour off and go grab a drink with your S.O or coworker, laugh at your fav comedy or podcast or go dancing. Let your hair down, and enjoy yourself, because at the end of the day, life is too short not too! All your responsibilities and worries will still be there when you’re done, you might just feel more in the mood to handle them!

6.     Get Some Rest

Yes, you need sleep but restful activities are as important too. Daily recommended hours of sleep a night is eight, and although that’s not always possible, on days you can have a lay in – do so! Try not to push yourself further than you need too, taking time to rest and recover from the day/week ahead allows you to regain energy to continue to approach  anything else that’s thrown your way.
