Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve most definitely heard of omega-3, but do you know really how good they are for you and what foods they are in? Well, look no further, we’re going to break it down for you!

Why Omega-3 is so good for you?

Foods containing omega-3 help lower the risk of heart disease, depression, dementia and arthritis. Your body can’t make them, so you must consume them through food or supplements.

When it comes to your heart the Omega-3 fatty acids help your heart in several ways. They curb inflammation in the blood vessels (and rest of your body). They can slow plaque buildup inside the blood vessels and have been used to make abnormal heart rhythms less likely.

Omega-3’s can be good for your mood. Countries with people who consume a lot of omega-3 have a lower depression count, but it’s not a treatment for depression, if you are suffering talk to your doctor.

The jury is still out on whether Omega-3 have any real control over preventing dementia, there is some evidence it may help protect you against dementia and age-related mental decline.

Omega-3 has some anti-inflammatory properties to it, so it can also be an aid to arthritis.
